The Legend Of Zelda: Skyward Sword At E3

So finally Nintendo has released more info about their new Zelda title, The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword. One of the key features of the game is bird riding. Using this skill Link can travel from the large floating rock you start on (this rock comes fully equipped with a town, shops, etc.) to smaller rocks, and even medium-sized rocks, and explore them at will. This kind of sets up the game like Wind Waker, except that your flying instead of sailing.

Of course no Zelda game would be complete without dungeons, but how can you reach underground, from floating rocks? Well portals apparently, Nintendo wasn’t to specific on what these portals would look like, but nonetheless they allow you to reach the ground. As per usual dungeons contain combat, but provided the motion controls work, the combat will be a lot more thought provoking. Having you strike from certain angles instead of randomly flailing your Wii-mote, although I’m sure that will probably work as well.

The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword will be available for the regular Wii, and will be available holiday 2011.
