Little did the guard know, that soon after his kick to the face he would fall down an elevator shaft.
This game is one of many spin off’s of EA’s console games, released for things you buy from Apple that have touch screens. Although this sounds like a bad thing it isn’t. Opposite of it’s console counterpart this version takes place from a 2d platformer style perspective, instead of first person. The gameplay is fairly simple, using basic swiping gestures to jump, attack, and slide, and uses tilting during balancing, ziplining, and riding down ramps. The tilting sections can be pretty unresponsive, but you can jump a lot of them anyway, this will only bother you if you are trying to make onto the leaderboards. All obstacles are marked either by a burst of red or being a different colour than everything else. Graphically this game is exceptional. The amount of detail far outstrips any Nintendo DS game to date. The graphic’s flow smoothlyand the only real problem I had with the graphics was the bullets that look more like arrows. White seems to be an important colour as it is in most of the backgrounds. The background is well done and looks great in the rooftop stages, however the factory stages are a bit boring in terms of things to look at. The story is told through little Star Wars like newspaper articles and radio transmissions. It is sort of interesting but they basically act as load screens so I payed them little attention.
From what I learned though the story revolves around Faith who is a Runner (an extreme mailperson) who finds herself hunted by the city’s police force who don’t like Runners in general. The story doesn’t really end, bu it does sort of make you want to buy the console version just to find out what happens. The area that really makes this game shine though is its replay value. Not only are there 28 achievements, but there are also 42 speed run stars, 59 in stage badges, and 20 unlockable wallpapers, that you can save to your device! There arealso online leaderboards for speed run’s as well. The only real downside of this game is that it costs 4.99. I got it on sale for 99 cents but that sale is over. Nonetheless this is a great game well worth your 5 bucks.
