The first thing I have to say about this game is that it ISN’T FREE. The only thing you get with the original version is two training missions, and a message that tells you to buy the full version for 99 cents. Then after this to get all of the war zones, and planes you’ll have to pay what approaches $20.00 for everything. It also doesn’t help that when a plane is destroyed you have to pay for its repair costs (unless you’re playing one of the 31 training missions). Aside from this the game is actually quite fun. It’s simple tilt controls and touch firing buttons, make it great for pick up and play. The graphics are okay but not anything special, and the terrainis repetitive and boring. The planes themselves are varied, from American, European,Russian, and a few they made up. The missions are designed with pick up and play in mind, There are only two types of missions, dogfight, and bomb run, both are pretty self-explanatory. The wireless modes are fun if you can find anyone online, but be prepared to get destroyed if your just starting out. The other area where this game excels is the sound. You can really hear the pitch of the engine change as you speed up. The sonic booms from your fighter, and other jets can be heard, and seen. Some other neat effects include blacking out if your pilot is exerted to too much G-force, and
the variablegeometry wings of the F-14 that actually fold in and out. The different views are also quite good, behind the plane, cockpit, cinematic and nose tip views are available. The cockpit view is really cool because in this view the clouds can actually obstruct your view making it more realistic. Although there is a price to this game, if you are looking for a fun pick up and play game, this is definitely it.
